The county was founded on February 25, 1856 and derives its name from Moses Sherburne, who was an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the Minnesota Territory during the 1850s. It’s the second fastest growing county in the state of Minnesota, and as of 2010 estimates, the county is home to around 90,600 people.
